Pets
We happily accommodate one dog per stay in our shepherd’s hut. However, we kindly request they stay off the bed to maintain its cleanliness. We also ask your dog's feet are clean before entering the hut. As we don't have secure fields and there is abundant livestock nearby, dogs must remain on a lead or under control at all times for safety. There are no additional costs for bringing your dog, but we ask guests clean up after their pet and take responsibility for any damage. We look forward to welcoming you and your dog for a wonderful stay!
Included
A homemade sourdough loaf on arrival. Essentials to get you started: oat and cows milk, welsh butter, salt, pepper, olive oil, tea bags, and Coffi Dwyfor (roasted on the Llŷn Peninsula). Books, board games, a puzzle and traditional wooden games. A bag of wood for the fire pit (additional bags can be purchased on-site for £8 p/bag).
Outdoors
Situated in one of our secluded fields with a covered outdoor bath, picnic table, fire pit, raised beds and two Adirondack rocking chairs.
Parking
Private parking is available to guests at the entrance to the property. The shepherd's hut is a 30-meter walk from the car park along a slate path. A trolley will be provided to take luggage to the hut.
Access
The hut has step access with a handrail on either side.
Private Catering
Breakfast, picnic and dinner hampers using local produce can be organised with prior arrangements. Visit our Extras page for more information.
What to bring
Keep an eye on the weather (we use XCWeather) and pack accordingly! Waterproofs, hiking shoes, warm layers, slippers, cosy pyjamas, swimmers, wellies (or waterproof shoes) and a torch are essential.
Surroundings
The owners’ traditional Welsh cottage, artist studio and vegetable garden are also on the property nearby (30m) but far enough away that the hut retains its privacy. Guests are free to walk around the entire homestead, pick vegetables from the garden (season dependent) and explore the numerous coastal walks at your doorstep. There is so much to do close by, visit our Explore page for more information.
Transport
We recommend travelling by car to reach us and hiring electric bikes from Discover Llŷn during your stay (they will drop off your bikes for free ahead of your arrival). There is a bus route between Pwllheli and Aberdaron that stops in Rhiw and runs twice a day. Taxis are also available around the peninsula and you can book the fflecsi Pen Llŷn Coastal Bus.
Nearest shop/pub
The nearest shop and pub are a 10-minute drive or 20-minute cycle away, located in the village of Aberdaron. We recommend doing a food shop at the Spar in Pwllheli on your way through or choosing one of our local produce hampers.
Bookings
We currently accept bookings through AirBnb or Kip Hideaways. Visit our ‘Book a Stay’ page for more information.
